November 2013 marks the seventh year for the 
Canandaigua Christkindl Market.
This event is held on the lawn of the majestic Granger Homestead and Carriage Museum in a series of three decorated, heated tents and brings together over 130 regional artisans and unique food vendors.German food along with traditional fare, wine, beer and "Gideon's Grog" will be available. Live entertainment and holiday music will fill the tents throughout the show.


Commemoration of 219th Anniversary of the Canandaigua Treaty


Much has changed in the 219 years since the signing of the Canandaigua Treaty of 1794, but its commemoration of peace and friendship between the Six Nations Confederacy (Haudenosaunee) and the United States still is recognized today.




On November 11, 2013, as has been the annual tradition, members of the Six Nations and the United States government gather on the front lawn of the courthouse in Canandaigua, New York to commemorate this seminal federal treaty.

Thanksgiving: What it's all about

In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. It wasn't until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November.




Fall is here so get ready for an onslaught of pumpkin recipes. Want to prepare something non-traditional? How about a simple trifle with layers of pumpkin and vanilla pudding with a praline crumble. A crumble made up of granola and kicked up with crushed pralines can we say "delish".  This pumpkin-praline trifle is sure to be a success!
