Canandaigua Rotary Pier Festival 2014
August 9 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Partnering with the Finger Lakes Riesling Festival, the Canandaigua Rotary Club will be presenting its Pier Festival for the 22nd year. Area nonprofit organizations will display their respected causes on the City Pier throughout both days, while providing activities for children of all ages.
Saturday:
At 4 p.m., the Rotary Club will be presenting a FREE concert – Flint Creek will play from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Taran will play from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. FIREWORKS, presented by Canandaigua Federal Credit Union, will be displayed over Canandaigua Lake around 9:30 p.m.

Finger Lakes Riesling Festival

The Finger Lakes Riesling Festival will be held on August 9th and 10th in conjunction with the Rotary Pier Festival. Activities will include NYS wine and craft beer tasting, wine seminars, cheese samplings, arts and crafts, kids games and obstacle courses, cooking demos, and NEW grape stomping.

The Seneca Art & Nature Camp will be held at Ganondagan State Historic Site in Victor and is open to children ages 9 - 12. Campers will explore the Seneca and Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) relationship with art, nature, and everyday life. Each day will include nature-themed trail walks, traditional Native games like longball and lacrosse, traditional storytelling, outdoor activities such as shelter-building, fire-making, and Iroquois dancing; and traditional Native craft activities. Campers should bring lunch, water and fruit will be provided. Camp fee is $175 and registration is open until July 18th.
Fourteenth Annual Juried Arts at the Gardens

On Saturday and Sunday, August 16 & 17, 2014 there will be a juried show of fine arts and crafts situated on the fifty acre Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion Historical State Park in Canandaigua. The south lawn of this verdant estate will overflow with the works of more than one hundred artists from all over the Northeast and beyond. In these tidy well-arranged booths, artisans from across the country will offer fine paintings, prints, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, glass, woodwork, photography, and other fine arts and crafts. Admission is $6.00 for adults. Children under 12 are free.

Crosswinds 5K starts with registration from 7-8:45am followed by a 9am race at the Crosswinds Wesleyan Church, 3360 Middle Cheshire Road, Canandaigua. This event benefits patients of the Sands Cancer Center at Thompson Hospital. The pre-registration fee is $15 ($13 for Greater Rochester Track Club members). The fee on the day of the race is $20 ($15 for GRTC members). The fee includes awards and post-race refreshments. T-shirts are guaranteed to all pre-registered by August 19.
